Kickin' Donkey

We have a custodial staff member who had  back surgery earlier this week.  I saw this posted somewhere else and CASED it.  So cute and I think it also fits the challenge this week for the Global Design Project #269 This week's challenge was a theme challenge.  The theme- 'animals'.  Only a week left of Sale-A-Bration and this is one of my favorites- can you believe you can get this FREE?!??!  

The sentiment on the bottom come from the SU! set Back on Your Feet

The base of the card is created and scored then the front panel is cut in half and off of the card to create half panel, which really lends itself to the cute donkey theme.

I backed the front with white card stock in order to have a space to write a message. 

As always, I don't like a naked envelope so I added the same DSP to the flap of the envelope. I am just addicted to dressing up envelopes.  It just makes the recipient of the card that much more excited to open it up and see what's inside.

One of a Kind

#387 Sketch 25

 I had some fun with this challenge from Less is More and trying a new challenge group: AAA Cards-Clean and Simple.  It truly is One of a kind.  The challenge for AAA#132 was masking- and keeping a majority of the space white. I used Ranger Distress Oxide inks to create the one of a kind color by blending Broken China and Faded Jeans colors together with a blending tool. I used Post-it tape to tape off the sides and get the sharp edge.  I worked top to middle, then bottom to middle and overlapped.  What's so great about Distress Oxide inks, is how they react to water.  In both examples, I flicked water on it to create a distressed look.  In the first example, after it dried I used some Crystal Effect glue drops to create a 3D water droplet over each splatter.  I left the water droplets alone in the second example.

Ink: Ranger Distress Oxide inks: Broken China and Faded Jeans. The cupcake was stamped using Gorgeous Grape(SU!) and Pineapple Punch(SU!)

Beautiful Peacock Sale-A-Bration

Sale-A-Bration is still going strong.  I love free products.   I just received my Beautiful Peacock stamps and couldn't wait to try some of the great designs I've seen on Pinterest. The next ones I make will have the gold strip from the paper that is in the background.  These Peacocks really look nice with Eastern Palace Speciality Paper and Eastern Beauty Stamps.

I began by Stamping the Peacock on white cardstock.  I found that by stamping the feather (lemon lime) first I was able to line up the body easier.  Next, I centered the design in the small square framelit and ran through my Big Shot.  After I cut out the individual pieces, I stamped Beautiful Friend on the large Lemon Lime cardstock and put the pieces together.  Try to stamp first, then put your pieces together.

Sweeeet!

 This week I am entering a single card into two challenges. This is the first time I have participate din a Global Design Sketch Challenge. I tried to stay true to the original sketch.  I don't have the Lots of Labels Framelits, so I got creative with my Scallop Topper punch.  I also use my favorite Triple Banner punch and centered my small banners so I avoided having to hand cut the banners. I can never make my banners even.

Thank you, Sympathy

Thank you cards are fun to make.  Sympathy cards are pretty straight forward. But, a thank you for your sympathy was a little more challenging.  My mother-in-law passed away over the holiday.  The outpouring of cards, flowers, and donations for my father-in-law was overwhelming.  I was tasked to create the thank you cards.  I was also tasked with he message inside (even more difficult).  I decided to go with the Heartfelt Blooms Sale-A-Bration set to create these cards.  I think this card would look even better with the tent fold- cut paper 11in x 4.25 in and score at 5.5in.
